Although it's unlikely it will reclaim its 19th-century moniker 'the garden city of the East, Colombo has nevertheless emerged as a must-see stop in Sri Lanka. No longer just the sprawling city you have to endure on your way to the beaches, it has become a worthy destination in its own right and makes an excellent start – or finish – to your Sri Lankan adventures.
National Museum of Colombo, also known as the Sri Lanka National Museum is one of two museums in Colombo. It is the largest museum in Sri Lanka. It is maintained by the Department of National Museum of the central government. The museum holds contains a collections of much importance to Sri Lanka such as the regalia of the country, including the throne and crown of the Kandyan monarchs as well as many other exhibits telling the story of ancient Sri Lanka.

Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress
Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 meters high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Culavamsa, this site was selected by King Kashyapa for his new capital.

Polonnaruwa was the country’s capital from the 11th– the 13th Century. Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka is considered one of the best-preserved historic cities in the world. Located approximately 140km from Kandy, Polonnaruwa has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to its abundance of historic remains.

Minneriya National Park is a wildlife sanctuary located in the North Central province of Sri Lanka. Nature lovers on Minneriya Jeep Safari often spot a large number of Sri Lankan Elephants gathering around to grass fields on the edges of the reservoir.
